Catholic Convert Cowboy Awards

Catholic, General

Since tonight there is an awards ceremony that includes a certain cowboy movie that a few people have seen, I thought I’d give an alternative (forgive the pun). There were several cowboys and adventurers of the Old West that converted to the Catholic Church at some point in their lives and I want to honor them and their decisions. And the Catholic Convert Cowboy awards go to:

Kit Carson
"Buffalo" Bill Cody
Doc Holliday

And Honorable Mentions (since they both played cowboys in movies):

Gary Cooper
John Wayne

Yes, they are all Catholic converts (although the circumstances of their conversion may vary).

More of Those Crazy 80s

Current Affairs

Bclubblog_1
I was scanning through the radio stations on the way home from the YMCA yesterday and I heard Don’t You (Forget About Me) by the Simple Minds. Naturally, it made me want to go home and find some great 80s songs to listen to. This page was really helpful in going back down memory lane. Here is what is currently coming from my speakers:

Heaven is a Place on Earth- Belinda Carlisle
Holiday Road- Matt Pond Pa (Yahoo music doesn’t have the original by Buckingham, but their version is excellent)
No Myth- Michael Penn
Back on the Chain Gang- the Pretenders
Lady in Red- Chris DeBurgh
I Melt With You- Modern English
Wind of Change- Scorpions

Also, I think when Carmel gets here we’re going to rent The Breakfast Club (to purchase go here) and perhaps another John Hughes classic (I don’t know if she knows this yet!). For some reason I’m in real need of watching a good 80s movie and listening to some good 80s music (an oxymoron for some, I know).

Photo is self-explanatory!
