Some Things…
Current Affairs February 5th, 2006
*I’m rooting for Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl, while hoping next year the Cleveland Browns go all the way.
*Today is (normally) the feast day of the Virgin and martyr St. Agatha.
*On Friday, the feast of St. Blaise, I got my throat blessed.
*Charles is back to blogging, I’m happy to report.
*John Heard’s Blog is very much worth reading.
*I’m currently listening to the Irish punk band Flogging Molly. Imagine the Chieftains meet…well I don’t know of any punk bands.
*I’ve been spending my spare time today browsing various topics in Wikipedia.
*My area could see anywhere from 5-18 inches of snow tonight.
*My coffee consumption has increased to about 4 cups a day.
That’s all for now…
I took the photo of the sky by my house (before the snow came)

Flogging Molly, huh? Good band. You might also like Black 47 and Seven Nations. Then there is some good Dropkick Murphy’s stuff.

I have a ton of flogging molly, if you give me your email, I can send you some!
Somehow I did not picture you listening to them???

Dropkick is the best. Flogging Molly is alright. Check out Gaelic Storm…they aren’t as punk, but they are still very good.
Oh, and I would describe Flogging Molly as the Chieftains meet the Pogues.

Oh yeah…how did I forget the Pogues?!?!?! Good call, Danny!

Thanks all for the great response on Flogging Molly. I have listened to some Dropkick Murphy and like them, but not being a huge fan of punk, I find Flogging Molly more accessible.
Heather: Thanks for the offer. I’ll email you and we can compare our music catalogues, lol.

Flogging Molly. Cool music, but their lyrics often present quite a challenge to Catholics - especially those of us of the Irish persuasion.
How does the younger generation relate to their lyrics, or do you just enjoy the music?

Patrick,
I pretty much just listen for the music. I like the sound. The ones that strike me as anti-Catholic or Christian, I don’t really listen to.
