As long as Lutherans ordain women, I don’t know how much there is to really talk about if visible and organizational unity is our goal.
I never thought I would question women’s ordination until recently…of course, I never thought I would even utter the words until my wife of all people brought up how she felt about the topic, which is very much against ordination of women.
There is a much bigger discussion here, so I’ll try not to bogart your comments space. Thanks for the article link.

Robb,
I think you are right. WO is a major obstacle to unity with either Rome or Constantinople, and it is not a decision likely to be rescinded.
It is interesting you mention that a woman is opposed to WO. That, in some circles, is outright treason, lol. Are you sure you haven’t been oppressing your wife
?
I initially did not accept WO, then gradually accepted it, then finally rejected it as a too late innovation with little historical precedent outside of the 1960s protestant mainlines. In the ECUSA you are practically blacklisted and ridiculed if you don’t accept WO. The comments I overheard at seminary about those who didn’t accept it were very discouraging.
I still respect those who accept WO, and can understand the reasons, but I side with the Catholic/Orthodox teaching.

And the LCMS does not participate in the Lutheran World Federation, nor does it generally participate in these types of ecumenical actions…
