Immigration January 23rd, 2005I’ve finally hired an immigration attorney and he is going to take me through all of the steps necessary to bring my fiancee here. We decided that the best route would be the fiancee visa, but it could realistically take 10 months or longer. That is not pleasant news, but at least with his help we won’t be making any annoying errors which could end up costing us more precious months. I’m sure I’ll be posting more on this issue as we move along the process.

I brought someone over from the UK as a consultant, and getting even an H visa was a pain in the… Dealing with the INS can be really frustrating, so it’s good to have an experienced attorney to work with. The one I worked with here in Cincinnati does nothing but immigration - so it went smoothly. Slowly, but smoothly.

Thanks for your input! Yeah, I’ve found it be a real pain, although after getting the lawyer, I get a sense it will go exactly like you described your experience: slowly, but smoothly. I worry that without the lawyer it would be quite bumpy and even longer.
