My Political Dilemma
Catholic, General October 9th, 2004Since my friend Charles has already blogged on this topic and I agree with his commentary, I won’t use up too much bandwidth. Here is my dilemma: what is someone who could never endorse Kerry’s views on life, but finds it hard to vote for Bush either because of Iraq (even though he thinks Bush is a decent, principled man) to do? I’m considering a third party. Right now I’m looking at Joe Schriner. Believe it or not, I also like Pat Buchanan alot, but since he’s not running I don’t feel that I should write him in. Time is running out.

I have an intense dislike of Kerry because of his pro-abortion stand. I am not a big fan of George Bush but I beleive that voting for a 3rd party candidate will be tantamount to voting for Kerry.
I favor Bush because of his pro-life stance. I do beleive that our invasion of Iraq was a righteous thing to do, however we are handling it rather poorly. My major reservations about Bush have to do with his strong pro-business beliefs. Bush is a good friend of corporations, but in my view, corporations are the epitome of greed, corruption, exploitation, and sleaze: these are not the values taught by our Lord Jesus Christ.
To close, I say again that a vote for a 3rd party equals a vote for Kerry !

Dennis,
Thanks for your thoughts. You do bring up an excellent point and that is the biggest problem with my exploration of a third party candidate: handing Kerry the election. I do live in a “battleground” state and believe a Kerry victory would be terrible for the fate of the unborn throughout the world. I still need to put a lot of prayer and thought into my decision and I appreciate your input.
