My Journey to the Catholic Church: the Whole Story
Catholic Church, My Journey September 7th, 2004If anyone is interested in how I, a former evangelical and then Anglican, made the journey to the Catholic Church, please visit my newest composition: My Journey to the Catholic Church. I wrote this for my website. It is rather long and detailed, so be warned. Still, I hope it can be inspiring, educational, and encouraging, especially to those currently in Protestant churches who are longing for more.

Andy,
I’m glad to share. I finally wanted to put my experiences to words. I have a charismatic side myself and there is a large movement of charismatics in the Catholic Church. I read somewhere it is around 70 million strong!

Thanks for sharing that. My journey from the Anglican church to the Catholic one was somewhat more convoluted, (and is linked above) but I ended up here too.

Shari,
Thanks for sharing! I have a page that chronicles conversion stories. Would you mind if I linked to yours?
Thanks!

Jonathan,
As a fellow convert from Anglicanism, thought you’d find this link (about the upcoming Anglican use conference)interesting; I found out about it through Fr. Tucker’s “Dappled Things” website. Will also cross post this to your brother’s site.

Shawn,
I appreciate what the Anglican Use parishes are doing and think that they would provide a place for many of the truly catholic minded Anglicans, many of whom believe most or all of Catholic teaching already. I must admit (and maybe this is because I only used the 1979 BCP), I don’t miss the Anglican liturgy as much as I thought I would. I sometimes miss the great Anglican hymns, but that’s mainly because of the choices of my parish music director. After all, most of the great Anglican hymns are in Catholic hymnals.
I’m so glad to see Rome giving this option to former Anglicans. I think it enriches the Church and is a powerful conversion tool. A former Anglican priest I know, last I heard, is now pursuing Catholic orders in my diocese. I’d like to find out if they have in mind to start an Anglican Use parish. I would love to visit it.

Jonathan,
Thanks very much for the details of your conversion to Catholicism. I was raised Catholic as a young man and became disillusioned about 13 with the whole thing. At 20 I committed my life to Christ and started a true journey of faith that has now lasted 29 years. interestingly enough my journey is currently taking me back into my Christian roots as a Catholic. Many complications exist in my life currently and I’m not sure that my wife and I could be received into communion with the Church but I have come to firmly believe in the “real Presence”, which up until now I had just seen as symbols. I appreciate your blog and also your website “Ancient - Future Catholics. If we can find a way to become Catholics I’m sure that this is the position that we would hold.
Much love in Christ,
